The tourist season is over, so the most besieged destinations are calm again and if you don’t visit them at the weekend, you can enjoy the beauties all by yourself.
There are two reasons to visit Slovenia at this time – beautiful colored nature and the feast of St. Martin.
Apples, grapes and most other crops in the field have already been harvested. Nature is slowly sinking into sleep. But before the trees and bushes turn gray and prepare to wrap themselves in a white snow coat, they light up in all sorts of beautiful colors to say goodbye. A real feast for the eyes and the soul!
On November 11, Slovenians celebrate St. Martin’s Day. This is the day the Must turns into Wine. Celebrations take place the weekend before and the weekend after that date in all wine regions. Priests baptize young wine, villagers choose the most beautiful girl to be the Wine Queen for the year and the tables are lined with delicacies typical of this festival – roast goose or duck with shredded flatbread (mlinci) and stewed red cabbage.
November is really a great time to come to Slovenia.
